Dangerous dream
It started with a dangerous dream. When someone asks me why I wanted to be a marine biologist, my mind always returns to my favorite childhood program on TV, about a show of marine life and oceans exploration around the world. I used to sit there mesmerized, all the beautiful underwater footage, the animals, the life, I couldn't take my eyes away and so with my mind. I sometimes justify my passion with logic like how Indonesia has the second longest coastline in the world and yet we Indonesians know so little about our oceans. This is however, not the true answer to the question. The real reason is that, when a marine biologist in the show talked about the ocean, from a tiny rubber boat, he sounded so right, like there wasn't any doubt of what he does in life. He seemed so passionate and very much certain. In that moment, listening to him, I planted a big dream in my heart: at some point, I would work, not only with, but for the ocean! A dream that often burns me inside out...
